Amy needs a hug -
Stop the credit crunch from robbing her
Emergency appeal
Amy is ten weeks old. She was born with a complex heart defect.
When she was only two days old, Amy needed emergency open-heart surgery and was rushed to a specialist hospital over 80 miles from her home. The doctors did a brilliant job and saved her life, but she had to spend seven weeks in hospital.
There was no room for Amy’s whole family to stay at the hospital, so while one parent looked after her little sister, the other made the long journey every day to see her. It cost them lots of money which they couldn’t afford, so they had to cut their visits to just twice a week. It broke their hearts to leave tiny Amy on her own like that, and she missed them terribly.
Their Cardiac Liaison Nurse got in touch with the Children’s Heart Federation which has a special fund to help parents like Amy’s. We gave a small grant of £200 so that her Mum and Dad could see Amy every day. Amy is now doing really well.
As the credit crunch bites, more parents like Amy’s are turning to the Children’s Heart Federation for help. Sadly, through lack of funds, we are sometimes forced to turn down parents who really need grants.
With £1000 a week, we could help all the families like Amy’s. Every donation counts - even a fairly small sum can make a huge a difference.
The sooner we receive funds, the sooner we can give them out, to help parents be there to hug their heart child.
